We made it 44 miles today. 84 miles total in 2 days. 288 miles to go!
The day started with a little rain. We only had a few minutes of sunshine in the afternoon. Most of the day was overcast with a light rain, although we didn't have the heavy rain we did yesterday.
Pete was able to use Rob Little's bike today. It was much better than the bike he had yesterday - and even better than mine. There were times he was leaving me in the dust! Because of the better equipment, he didn't have to work as hard today. But because we faced more hills, I had to work a little harder today. Whoever said Indiana was flat has not ridden a bike across it.
In the morning, as it was so obvious that Pete's equipment was better, I found myself thinking of the importance of having the right equipment to do the job.
What is the equipment we need?
Galatians 5:22-23 - But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Ephesians 6:10-18 - A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay
alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Do you have the right equipment for the Day?
